Greenwood Park Kindergarten

Providing high-quality Kindergarten for over 70 years!

The centre is heritage-listed and situated within a natural setting of leafy trees. We provide a warm, caring and stimulating environment in which each child’s individual strengths are valued.

Our curriculum is play-based, as we believe that children learn best through action rather than instruction. Our inviting outdoor area is large and well shaded, providing plenty of space for your child to explore, discover and be creative.

Our committed educators work alongside our diverse community of families. The early years are a special time, where the foundations are laid for children to develop a sense of belonging and a love of learning.

Exceeding Quality Standards
Greenwood Park Kindergarten has been rated as Exceeding National Quality Standards, which is the highest possible rating. This demonstrates our commitment to children and their families.

Facilities and Services

Our large yard is shady and leafy. We have a brand new fort, swings, dry creek bed, sensory play area, digging patch and veggie garden. This is in addition to the existing sandpit, cubby house, train and soft fall area with bike track.

We encourage children to develop a sense of responsibility for the environment through modelling sustainable practices, such as compost use, waste avoidance, and the use of natural materials.

We are proud to provide a multicultural curriculum and celebrate a variety of cultural events and holidays throughout the year. Our curriculum supports social, emotional, cognitive, physical and creative learning.

We actively promote healthy eating, oral hygiene and sun smart awareness. We are very conscious of keeping our staff and children safe in the sun; therefore, we are official participants in the SunSmart program.

Theresa is currently studying the Master of Education – Special Education, as she wanted to have a more in-depth knowledge about how to support children and their families with learning differences. She is passionate about keeping abreast of the current research and practices in early childhood to be able to provide the highest quality of education for your child.

Feng (Teacher)

Feng is a qualified early childhood teacher.  She completed her Bachelor of Early Childhood studies and Master of Education at University of Melbourne.  She has more than 10 years' experience as a kindergarten teacher at various childcares and kindergartens. She believes children learn through play and they are active participants through social interactions. Feng is able to speak Mandarin fluently and enjoys learning and sharing different cultures and values. She is passionate with her work and loves working with children.

Samantha (Co-educator)

Samie's passion for the early childhood setting started back when her children attended Kindergarten and she decided to go back to study and completed her Diploma in Early Childhood and Care. Samie believes in play-based learning and she enjoys planning experiences that will assist the children to scaffold their developments and interests, completing observations and planning from the Victorian Framework.

Shelley (Co-educator)

Shelley joined the Greenwood Park Kindergarten team in 2013 as the Activity Group Leader of the 3-Year-Old groups. She has also been the Assistant Educator in the 4-Year-Old Kangaroos Group since 2016.

With her many years working with preschool children, Shelley's aim is to work in partnership with families, to establish respectful and caring relationships and to provide intentional teaching moments that support all children to be active participants in their learning. Watching children grow in confidence, master skills they may have been reluctant to try, form friendships, discover new knowledge and extend on the development of their whole self, is something that Shelley is very enthusiastic about.

The early childhood years are such a special time in your child and your family's life and Shelley feels so privileged to be able to enjoy this exciting journey with you and the rest of the Educator team at Greenwood Park Kindergarten.

Leesa (Co-educator)

Leesa has worked at Greenwood Park Kindergarten for the last 14 years and works in both the 3 and 4-Year-Old groups. Leesa has a Diploma in Children's Services and believes that being an Early Childhood Educator has many rewards as she teaches young children through observing and plans activities to strengthen children's abilities. She enjoys engaging with the children each day, having fun and listening to their stories.

Leesa has a wealth of knowledge she is keen to share with the children and their families. Leesa believes that she has the best job ever as every day is different and always a lot of fun.

Sam (Co-educator)

Samantha, Sam for short, is the Assistant Educator with the Ladybugs and Caterpillars. She holds a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care. Sam has worked as an Assistant Educator and an Additional Assistant in both 3 and 4-Year-Old groups at a number of different Kindergartens, in a wide range of locations.

Sam loves her work and the time that she gets to spend with the children, making a positive impact on their lives.

As an educator, Sam believes that families are the children's first teachers and she values and support these relationships. She also believes that children are unique and talented individuals who thrive in an environment where they are encouraged and supported to play, explore, discover and question. She prides herself on her relationships with the children and their families and she looks forward to meeting yours!

Linda (Lunch Cover)

Linda changed to a career in Early Childhood after having some time away from work to stay at home with her own family. She completed a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care in 2018 and joined the team at Greenwood Park Kindergarten in 2020. She views children as competent, capable learners who have a wide range of skills and varied experiences.

Linda believes that children are decision makers in their own learning and this is supported by enabling them to source their own materials, learning through play and offering them authentic choices. Each child is unique bringing their own culture, values and experience into the service and this should be valued and respected.
