Artwork connects children to wildlife, habitats and community

With the assistance of a grant, Californian Gully Kindergarten was able to commission some stunning artwork in their playground by local artist, Andrew Scott.

The artworks in oil, are situated along the bike path that weaves through the outdoor learning space and represent the local rivers and wildlife of the area.

These pieces were created gradually across the first term of the year, to enable children to observe the process and the progress of the work. On returning from holidays, the children were delighted to see it completed, ready for their ongoing learning in Term Two.

These beautiful artworks will continue to foster children’s connectedness to natural habitats, acting as a catalyst for children’s further inquiry. They provide learning opportunities for children to develop an increasing knowledge of, and respect for their local natural environments.

Californian Gully Kindergarten aims to embed an awareness and appreciation of the vital role we can all play in protecting and nurturing wildlife and waterways, promoting lifelong learning in this area - which contributes to more sustainable and healthy ecosystems for future generations to enjoy.

Inverloch and District Preschool

Inverloch and District Pre-School is located in the beautiful coastal town of Inverloch, in the Bass Coast Shire and services families within Inverloch and the surrounding district.

The Kindergarten has a long history of providing quality programs to the children and families. We are managed by the YMCA of Ballarat Kindergarten Cluster and a voluntary committee. The committee is mainly comprised of parents and families of current children who attend the centre, as well as some community representatives, whose focus is on fundraising for the Pre-School.

We offer sessional kindergarten programs for children, catering for the diverse needs of families. Our kindergarten programs for Three-Year-Old children are two and a half hours per week and our Government funded Four-Year-Old programs provide fifteen hours per week. Our educational programs are play-based and focus on children’s strengths, needs and interests. The learning experiences provided for children are set up in beautiful and inviting ways. Equal importance is placed on both the inside and outside learning environments.

We build strong respectful partnerships with children and families and we have close ties with the local community. We have a strong partnership with the Inverloch Primary School which assists in children’s successful transition to school.

Our friendly educators are passionate about providing high quality programs for children and keeping up to date with current Early Childhood theory and practice. They work within relevant Government requirements, such as the Early Years Learning Framework, the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework and the National Quality Standards.

We also acknowledge that we work on the traditional lands of the Boonwurrung/Bunurong people, of the Kulin nation.

We welcome you to our kindergarten!
