Grace Berglund Kindergarten

Grace Berglund Kindergarten - a secure environment where play is the base for growing and learning. A safe and nurturing environment, close to the centre of town in a quiet street with safe off-road parking.

Experienced, friendly staff provide for the learning needs of the children with a maximum class size of 23 children.

Pauline Whyte

My name is Pauline and I am the 4 year old teacher at Grace Berglund Kinder in Warragul.  I completed my 3 year Diploma of Early Childhood Education in 1982 at the Institute of Early Childhood Development in Kew, Melbourne. I first started teaching at St Andrews Kindergarten Warragul in 1983. In 1991 after having my first child, I began working at Grace Berglund and have continued to work at GBK.

During this time, I also worked part time at WECAN (West Gippsland Early Intervention for Children with Additional Needs). Through my continued association with WECAN and SCOPE I have increased my knowledge of the learning needs of both typically developing and children with additional needs.

I work with a dedicated and experienced team of educators providing a rich and nurturing play based program for both 3 and 4 year old children.  As staff members, we believe that we are all on a learning journey and continually attend Professional Development, and read and reflect on our philosophies and learning journey.

Kylie Borthwick

Hi, I am Kylie, the 3 year old Kindergarten Teacher at Grace Berglund Kindergarten. I completed my Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies at the University of Melbourne in 2004. Since then I worked within a Child Care Centre teaching a 4 year old Kindergarten program before deciding to take the opportunity to work for Mansfield Autistic Centre as a Travelling Teacher in 2005. I have worked with children from 0-18 years with an ASD in a variety of educational settings all over Gippsland, as well as supporting the families within the home.

In 2010, I took leave to have my first child. I then returned to work part time and currently still work for Mansfield Autism Statewide Services as an Autism Practitioner.   In 2014, I started relief teaching in local Kindergartens for YMCA Ballarat and in 2015 started teaching the 3year old program and job share with Pauline one day of the 4 year old program.

Allison Beall

As a mother of children with additional needs, I began helping out at the Early Intervention Programs that my children were involved with.

From there, I took on the role of Additional Assistant working at many kindergartens and Child Care Centres throughout the Baw Baw Shire whilst continuing my volunteer work at WECAN. In 2005, I commenced work as the fulltime assistant at Grace Berglund Kindergarten. In 2011, I completed Certificate 3 Child Care.

Sue Derrick

I started my formal studies in Children's Services in 2004 with the aim of working with children in a kindergarten. I commenced my practical studies with children whilst raising our four children which commenced….some years ago! In 2013, I joined the Grace Berglund Kindergarten as the Assistant with the 3 Year Old Group and continue in this position, as well as working with the Green Group as an Additional Assistant and lunch time staff. I have worked in Childcare for the last four years and also have many years’ experience as a Nanny.   I love working with young children, watching them discover the wonder of life and sharing their completely honest and uninhibited reactions. They keep me young!
